Two women appear in court over Dawn Park murder

Two women appeared in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday in connection with the murder of Jabulile Ntimba in Dawn Park on 16 September.

Fortunate Masilela, 31, and Tsakane Msithani, 38, are facing charges of murder, defeating the ends of justice and possession of a dangerous weapon.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said the accused allegedly knew Ntimba and were with her on the night of the incident. The deceased was later found dead, prompting a police investigation that led to the arrest of the two women and the recovery of items believed to be relevant to the case.

The State alleges that Ntimba was in a relationship with Masilela’s husband, who was also her boyfriend. The man is the brother of Msithani.

According to the State, the alleged discovery of the relationship between Ntimba and Masilela’s husband led to the subsequent murder.

A third suspect who was initially arrested was not placed on the court roll because of insufficient evidence at this stage.

The matter was postponed to 1 October for a formal bail application. The State will oppose bail.

The NPA said it would continue working with the South African Police Service to ensure all relevant evidence is placed before the court.
