Three arrested in Dawn Park murder case

Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of the ninth woman whose body was discovered in Dawn Park, Boksburg, amid a series of killings of women being investigated in Gauteng.

The suspects, a man and two women, were arrested over the weekend by members of the Gauteng Murder and Robbery Unit.

They are expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The arrest relates to the murder of the ninth victim, whose body was found in an open veld along Lama Street in Dawn Park on 17 September.

Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane said police were treating all nine murder cases as a priority.

“We remain committed to ensuring that these investigations are pursued with the urgency and determination they require,” Dimpane said.

“Our investigators are following all available leads and are working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.”

SAPS said further details about the case would be ventilated in court.

The arrests come as concern continues to grow over the deaths of women whose bodies have been discovered in parts of Ekurhuleni and other areas of Gauteng.

Police have previously said investigators were examining possible links between some of the cases, while also warning that the circumstances of each murder must be established through individual investigations.
