Thousands of Zulu maidens gathered in a colourful celebration of culture, tradition and purity, reaffirming their commitment to R101 preserving a practice that has been passed down through generations

Among those taking part were Anastasia Fourie from Eshowe and Kelly Kleinbooi from Greytown, who proudly stood alongside thousands of other young women during the gathering.

For Fourie and Kleinbooi, the event is more than a cultural occasion. They said participating in the tradition has given deeper meaning and purpose to their commitment to purity and strengthened their connection to their heritage.

Both women have pledged to return to the gathering every year, highlighting the importance they place on keeping the tradition alive.

The annual gathering brings together maidens from across KwaZulu-Natal and beyond, creating a powerful display of Zulu culture, unity and pride.
