The Vaal will never sound the same: Kabelo Keogatile leaves Thetha FM

The Vaal has been left stunned after veteran broadcaster Kabelo Keogatile announced his departure from Thetha FM 100.6 following an incredible 17 years at the station.

Keogatile broke the news on Tuesday, 1 September, bringing an emotional end to a journey that made his voice familiar in homes across Sebokeng, Evaton, Sharpeville, Vanderbijlpark and the greater Vaal.

For many listeners, Keogatile was more than a radio presenter – he was a trusted voice who became part of their daily lives.

“After 17 years, saying goodbye is not easy. Thetha FM has been more than a workplace; it has been a part of my life, my growth and my story,” he said.

He reflected on difficult periods, disappointments and moments when he questioned whether to continue, but said he leaves with gratitude and no bitterness.

His departure has triggered an outpouring of tributes from listeners on social media.

Keogatile’s reason for leaving and his next move remain unknown, while Thetha FM management has yet to issue an official statement.
