Teen boy hospitalised following pitbull attack in Evaton

EVATON — A 19-year-old boy has been hospitalised after he was attacked and bitten by a pitbull in Beverly Hills, Evaton, on Tuesday afternoon.

It is alleged that the teenager was escorting his young female neighbour to her home when the attack occurred.

According to eyewitnesses, the girl was opening the gate to enter the property when the pitbull escaped from the yard and attacked the teenager.

The dog reportedly ripped the boy's trousers before biting him.

He was taken to Sebokeng Hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment.

The victim's grandmother told Vaal Journal that the dog's owner later visited her home and allegedly acknowledged that the animal can become aggressive and attack people when they play with her daughter.

The grandmother said she attempted to open a case at a police station but was informed that the teenager would have to lodge the complaint himself.

The circumstances surrounding the attack, including whether the dog was properly contained, remain unclear.
