Spring Day turns tragic as young man dies in Refilwe stabbing

Spring Day water-play celebration in Refilwe ended in tragedy after a young man, identified as Tshepang Nyathi, reportedly died following an alleged stabbing.

The incident is believed to have happened at about 16:10 on Tuesday while young people were taking part in water-play activities.

According to preliminary information circulating on social media, Nyathi allegedly poured water on an older man who was passing through the area and was not participating in the celebrations.

The confrontation reportedly escalated, with the man allegedly stabbing Nyathi.

Nyathi was reportedly rushed to Refilwe Clinic, where he allegedly succumbed to his injuries.

The incident has sparked calls for justice, while also renewing debate about water games involving unsuspecting motorists, pedestrians and members of the public.
