SAPS vows to find those behind Gauteng women killings

SAPS Deputy National Commissioner for Policing Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili says investigators will continue working to identify those responsible for the killings of women whose bodies have been discovered across Gauteng.

Speaking outside the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Mosikili said police would not rush investigations simply to make arrests.

“It may take time, but we want to be sure. We want to make sure that when we arrest, we arrest the right people, based on evidence that can stand before a court of law.”

Mosikili was speaking during an update on the investigation into the murder of Jabulile Ntimba, whose partially clothed body was found in Villa Liza near Dawn Park in Boksburg.

He said a strengthened multidisciplinary team of experienced detectives, forensic specialists and other capabilities was working around the clock on the cases.

“It is just a matter of time until we find all those responsible for these attacks and the killing of women,” he said.

Mosikili said investigators were examining evidence and following credible leads, while urging the public to give police space to conduct their work.

He confirmed that the R400 000 reward for information leading to the solving of the cases remained available, but no one had yet claimed it.

On Ntimba’s killing, Mosikili said there was an indication it may have been relationship-related, including a possible love triangle, but warned that police would not disclose further details that could compromise the investigation.

He also confirmed that Lawrence Mudzinganyama had handed himself over at Randburg police station, was arrested and released on a warning to appear in court on 1 October.
