Power outage hits parts of Vereeniging and Midvaal

Residents and businesses across several parts of Vereeniging and Midvaal are without electricity following a malfunction at the Verdun Transmission Station.

The municipality said on Friday, 4 September 2026, that the power supply interruption was caused by a malfunctioning high-voltage circuit breaker at the station.

Affected areas include Arcon Park, Waldrift, Springcol, Unitas Park, Duncanville, Vereeniging Town, Duncanville Industrial, Three Rivers, Three Rivers East, Mario Milani, parts of Midvaal and Rissiville.

The municipality said its teams are attending to the fault but could not provide an estimated time of restoration at this stage.

Residents will be updated as work progresses.

The municipality apologised for the inconvenience caused by the outage.
