Owen Ndlovu found dead after alleged kidnapping

Former SABC sports presenter and music rights activist Owen Ndlovu has been found dead in Thokoza, Katlehong, after he was allegedly kidnapped on Tuesday night.

Ndlovu, 54, was reported missing after armed men allegedly abducted him in Katlehong. His family confirmed his death on Wednesday.

According to the Ndlovu family, residents found his body in Thokoza on Wednesday morning. The family said residents who discovered him reported that he had sustained gunshot wounds.

His bag was also found a few metres from where his body was discovered.

Ndlovu's wife, Portia Ndlovu, identified his body at the mortuary, the family said.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, with the family awaiting further information from the relevant authorities.

Ndlovu was known for his career as an SABC sports presenter and commentator and later became involved in the music industry. He was also associated with the Summer Song of the Year concept and music rights advocacy.

His death comes less than 24 hours after reports of his alleged abduction emerged. Earlier reports said armed men had allegedly taken him in Katlehong on Tuesday evening.

The family has appealed to the public and media to respect its privacy while it mourns Ndlovu.
