Mechanic murdered as two vehicles are hijacked in Mooi River

A mechanic was killed and two vehicles were hijacked during an incident in Mooi River, KwaZulu-Natal, on Thursday morning.

Midlands EMS Howick K9 Team was dispatched to the area at about 10:00 following reports of a murder.

On arrival, emergency personnel found the mechanic with fatal injuries sustained during the incident.

Despite paramedics' efforts, he was declared dead at the scene.

It was further established that two vehicles had allegedly been hijacked during the incident.

Midlands EMS crews and the K9 Team remained at the scene to assist, while members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) attended and began their investigation.

The circumstances surrounding the mechanic's murder and the hijacking of the vehicles are being investigated by SAPS.
