Mashatile says recovery is progressing well after medical procedure

Deputy President Paul Mashatile says he is recovering well after recently undergoing a minor medical procedure.

In a statement on Tuesday, Mashatile said he was regaining strength each day but would continue resting on the advice of his doctors.

“I am pleased to share that my recovery is progressing well, and I am regaining strength each day,” he said.

Mashatile said work and delegated responsibilities would continue while he recuperates, with his office and relevant stakeholders in government, business and other sectors ensuring that duties continue.

He thanked his family, medical team, staff in his office, government colleagues and members of the ANC for their support during his recovery.

Mashatile also expressed gratitude to President Cyril Ramaphosa and South Africans who had sent messages of support and encouragement.

“Your prayers and encouragement have been a source of strength,” he said.

The deputy president said he remained committed to the responsibilities entrusted to him and looked forward to returning to his duties once he had fully recovered.

“I assure you that I remain dedicated to the responsibilities entrusted to me, and I look forward to returning to my duties in full, serving our nation with renewed energy and commitment,” Mashatile said.

He concluded by calling on South Africans to continue working together for the progress of the country.

“Thank you, and may God bless South Africa,” he said.
