Hawks secure nine forfeiture orders worth more than R1.7m in Limpopo

The Hawks have secured nine forfeiture orders worth more than R1.7 million involving vehicles linked to various crimes in Limpopo.

The orders were granted by the Limpopo Division of the High Court in Polokwane on 14 September 2026 following investigations by the Hawks’ Priority Crime Specialised Investigation Asset Forfeiture Investigation unit.

The vehicles were allegedly used as instrumentalities of crime, including the possession of illicit cigarettes, dealing in drugs, illegal chrome mining and possession of an endangered pangolin.

The assets forfeited to the State include a UD truck and Hendred Fruehauf reefer trailer, Interlink side-tipper trailers, a Toyota Hilux, two Toyota Corollas, a Mercedes-Benz, VW Amarok, Toyota Etios and Hyundai i10.

The investigation was conducted in collaboration with the National Prosecuting Authority’s Asset Forfeiture Unit.

Hawks Limpopo provincial head Major General Adv Gops Govender commended the investigators and the NPA unit for the successful forfeiture orders, saying they demonstrated efforts to ensure that crime does not pay.
