Four men shot in Ngcobo CBD, one killed

Police are appealing for information after four men were shot at a food container in Ngcobo CBD in the Eastern Cape on Monday afternoon.

The incident happened at about 15:00 on 21 September 2026 when four unidentified suspects allegedly entered the food container where the victims were having lunch and opened fire.

A 31-year-old man was fatally wounded and died at the scene. Three other men were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

According to police, the victims are believed to be members of the Van and Truck Association. Two of them are also reportedly members of the Ngcobo crisis committee.

Police have opened a murder case and three counts of attempted murder. The motive for the shooting has not yet been established and remains part of the investigation.
