DA unveils 13 Emfuleni ward candidates ahead of local government elections

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has unveiled its candidates for 13 wards in Emfuleni’s central and Greater Sebokeng areas ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.

The party says its candidates are drawn from the communities they seek to represent and understand the challenges facing residents.

Among the issues highlighted by the DA are unreliable water and electricity supply, poor roads, sewage spills, inadequate waste collection and concerns about the maintenance and safety of communities.

The party says residents need councillors who will be visible in their wards, engage directly with communities and hold the municipality accountable for service delivery.

The DA is also pointing to its victory in Ward 28 as evidence that it can make electoral gains in Emfuleni, and says it intends to build on that result across the 13 wards.

The party has urged residents to support its campaign to “fix Emfuleni”, promising a municipality that it says will be more responsive and accountable to residents.

The 2026 local government elections will determine the political leadership of municipalities across South Africa.
