DA offers R500,000 reward for information leading to conviction of Ekurhuleni women’s killer

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has offered a R500,000 reward for information that leads to the successful prosecution of the person responsible for the murders of multiple women in Ekurhuleni.

The announcement was made by DA Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate Khathu Rasilingwane, who said the reward was intended to support ongoing law enforcement efforts and encourage people with information to come forward.

“The DA is doing this because as a party we care deeply about the safety of women in Ekurhuleni, and South Africa at large,” Rasilingwane said.

He said the party wanted to see the perpetrator brought to justice as quickly as possible.

“Ekurhuleni cannot wait. Women cannot wait. Justice cannot wait,” he said.

Rasilingwane also expressed sympathy for the families of the women who have been killed, including the family of 38-year-old Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo, whose body was positively identified after she went missing while out jogging in Kempton Park.

He highlighted the role played by Moselakgomo’s eight-year-old daughter, who made the first calls raising the alarm about her mother’s disappearance.

“Society can follow in her footsteps to bring the perpetrator to light too,” Rasilingwane said.

The DA said the reward would only be considered where information is formally submitted to the South African Police Service (SAPS).

Tip-offs must be properly recorded by police, with proof of the information having been handed to SAPS provided to the DA.

The party said it would not accept direct tip-offs or reports and would only consider information supported by an official police record.

The reward comes as police continue investigating a series of women’s deaths and the discovery of multiple bodies in the Kempton Park/Rhodesfield area.
