ANC Sedibeng region takes national manifesto to communities

The ANC Sedibeng Region has held a successful localised manifesto programme, aimed at translating the African National Congress (ANC) Election Manifesto 2026 into priorities that speak directly to the realities of communities across the region.

The programme follows the launch of the ANC’s national Election Manifesto by President Cyril Ramaphosa in Diepsloot two weeks ago.

Following the national launch, ANC regions across the country were tasked with internalising, interpreting and localising the manifesto to ensure its commitments address the specific challenges and needs of communities on the ground.

The Sedibeng gathering brought together ANC leaders, cadres, councillors, candidates and supporters in a show of organisational mobilisation and political readiness ahead of the local government elections.

The event was held across two packed venues at the Vereeniging Civic and Banquet Halls.

ANC Sedibeng Regional Chairperson Mlungisi Hlongwane presented the region’s localised manifesto, aligning the national commitments of the governing party with the challenges, opportunities and priorities affecting communities across Sedibeng.

ANC Treasurer-General Gwen Ramokgopa also attended the event, which drew large numbers of party supporters and members.

The programme was not simply about repeating the commitments contained in the national manifesto, but about answering a critical question: What does the ANC manifesto mean for the people of Sedibeng, and what must the movement do differently and more urgently to turn those commitments into tangible action?

The region said the manifesto had now been localised and the political message sharpened.

The next task, it said, is to take the manifesto to communities and translate the ANC’s commitments into practical programmes and action that improve the lives of residents across Sedibeng.
