ANC Bojanala dismisses claims that regional convenor is funding independent party

The ANC in the Bojanala Region has dismissed as “false, baseless and fabricated” allegations that its regional convenor, Sheila Mabale-Huma, is funding and supporting the SLK Independent Party.

In a statement issued on 6 September, ANC Bojanala Regional Task Team spokesperson Thabo Molamu said the allegations were part of a campaign aimed at creating divisions within the governing party ahead of the local government elections.

“We state categorically and without ambiguity that these allegations are entirely false, baseless, and a calculated piece of political fiction,” Molamu said.

He accused the publication that carried the allegations of relying on anonymous sources and described the report as negative campaigning intended to damage the ANC's reputation among voters.

“While this report may appear to ordinary onlookers as mere fake social media output, those who engage in civic life and political movements with a high degree of critical thinking, analytical scrutiny and strategic awareness will see it for exactly what it is: negative campaigning,” he said.

Molamu said the allegations that Mabale-Huma would fund an opposition party to advance her own interests or undermine the ANC in Rustenburg were illogical.

“The regional convenor does not have any reason to weaken, destroy and frustrate the ANC. She is deeply mindful of the fact that she is what she is because of the ANC,” he said.

According to Molamu, Mabale-Huma remained a loyal member of the movement and had “more to give back to the ANC as a way to appreciate what it has done for her”.

He said the use of an anonymous “political correspondent”, unnamed sources and unidentified political analysts further undermined the credibility of the report.

“The reliance on an anonymous political correspondent, manufactured sources within the movement and unnamed political analysts exposes this publication as a propaganda tool,” Molamu said.

He urged ANC members, supporters and the public to disregard the allegations, saying the party remained focused on its preparations for the upcoming local government elections.

“The ANC in Bojanala remains unified and focused on building better communities. The movement will not be distracted by faceless character attacks as it prepares to defend its mandate,” he said.
