19-year-old woman in court over murder of Limpopo businessman

A 19-year-old woman accused of being involved in the murder of Mankweng businessman Tebogo Mothapo has appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court.

Kagontle Moshibudi Sina Bopape appeared in court on Monday, facing six charges, including murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, conspiracy to commit murder and robbery, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The case was postponed to Tuesday to allow Bopape to obtain legal aid.

Bopape was arrested on Sunday following an intelligence-driven operation involving the SAPS Provincial Investigation Unit, Provincial Tracking Team and Capricorn Tracing Team, assisted by Tshimollo Security and Investigations.

Mothapo, 43, was attacked and shot dead in the Mankweng policing precinct on 16 December 2025.

Bopape is the second suspect arrested in connection with his murder.

The first suspect, 27-year-old Osama Asad, a naturalised South African of Pakistani origin, was arrested at Ga-Mothapo, Tjatjaneng, on 20 July.

Asad’s case was also postponed to Tuesday for the State to address his bail application.

The investigation is continuing.
