WATCH | Executive Mayor Councillor Dada Morero visited the site of the suspected methane gas explosion this afternoon, where he received a briefing from EMS Chief and officials on the ground.
Preliminary information indicates that an attempted cable theft may have resulted in the ignition of methane gas within the sewer servitude, causing three manhole covers to be lifted and damaging the manholes, paving and a small section of the road.
No injuries have been reported. Egoli Gas has confirmed that the incident does not involve its gas pipeline.
