SAPS confirms dismissal of Major General Feroz Khan

Major General Feroz Khan has been dismissed from the South African Police Service (SAPS) after failing to appear before a senior officer dealing with his disciplinary process.

SAPS national spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed Khan’s dismissal on Wednesday, saying he was deemed dismissed in terms of Regulation 9(7)(b) of the SAPS Discipline Regulations.

Mathe said Khan failed to appear before the designated senior officer responsible for dealing with the expeditious disciplinary process.

“Major General Khan was deemed dismissed in terms of Regulation 9(7)(b) of the SAPS Discipline Regulations, following his failure to appear before the designated senior officer responsible for dealing with the expeditious disciplinary process,” Mathe said.

She said the dismissal demonstrated SAPS’s commitment to accountability, discipline and professional conduct within the organisation.

“No member, regardless of rank or position, is above the law or the applicable disciplinary framework,” Mathe said.

The dismissal comes as Khan’s matter has been the subject of legal proceedings.

Mathe said SAPS would continue to respect and abide by decisions of the courts and provide further information where legally permissible.

The police service did not provide further details about the disciplinary proceedings against Khan.
