Ekurhuleni Killings: Family identifies R21 murder victim

The family of 28-year-old Gracious Nkomo has positively identified her as one of the women whose bodies were discovered in the Kempton Park area.

Nkomo was the third woman found on 10 September 2026, when her partially clothed body was discovered along the R21.

Her family identified her at the Germiston Mortuary on Thursday.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is investigating Nkomo’s murder, along with the other cases involving women whose bodies have been found in and around Kempton Park.

Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane said a multidisciplinary team of investigators was working around the clock to establish the circumstances surrounding the murders and identify those responsible.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Gracious Nkomo during this extremely difficult time. Our investigators remain seized with these cases, and we will continue to pursue every available lead to ensure that those responsible for these murders are brought to justice,” said Dimpane.

Kempton Park remains under intensified policing operations as investigations into the murders continue.

SAPS has appealed for information that could assist investigators in establishing the circumstances surrounding the deaths and identifying those responsible.
