FOLLOW-UP: TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THE N12 FOR SINKHOLE ASSESSMENT - 12 AND 13 SEPTEMBER 2026
The City of Matlosana Local Municipality, together with the North West Department of Public Safety and SANRAL, wishes to inform motorists of a follow-up sinkhole assessment and safety survey on a section of the N12.
Following the initial assessment conducted during August 2026, a further detailed assessment is required. As a result, the road will be temporarily closed from Saturday, 12 September 2026 to Sunday, 13 September 2026 between 06:00 and 17:00 daily.
Traffic will be diverted via Vermaasdrif Road → Buffelsdoorn Road → Dr Martin Khunou Ave to reconnect to the N12. Motorists traveling from Klerksdorp to Potchefstroom can also use Dr Martin Khunou Ave at the Matlosana Mall (Engen Garage) intersection.
Motorists are urged to plan their trips in advance and to obey traffic officials and signage on site.
