Two Zimbabwean and two SA nationals arrested for allegedly smuggling cough syrup

Two Zimbabwean nationals and two South Africans have been arrested in the Masisi area of Vhembe after they were allegedly found transporting cough syrup without the required licence.

The four suspects were arrested by police during an operation in the area.

According to police, the suspects allegedly attempted to bribe the officers with R100 000 to avoid arrest.

The officers rejected the offer and proceeded with the arrests.

The suspects are expected to face charges relating to the unlawful transportation of the cough syrup, as well as attempted bribery.

Police said the officers involved acted ethically by refusing the alleged bribe and following proper procedures.

The suspects are expected to appear in court, where they will face the charges against them.
