Mayor Mako vows to finish road project in Bophelong

Emfuleni Executive Mayor Cllr Hassan Hassan Mako has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that municipal projects aimed at improving residents’ lives are completed.

Mako recently visited the labour-intensive road construction project on Thomas Nkobi Road in Bophelong to assess progress first-hand, rather than relying solely on reports.

The shaping of the road is progressing, while stormwater channels are also being constructed as part of the project.

Once the necessary engineering works and surface layers have been completed, the road will be finished with lock paving bricks instead of asphalt.

According to the municipality, the labour-intensive approach is expected to provide local young people with opportunities to gain valuable skills and temporary employment.

Mako said projects intended to benefit residents should not be allowed to stall or be unnecessarily halted.

“Ours is to strive to solve people's problems,” the municipality said, highlighting the mayor’s message: “When we start it, we must finish it.”
